In this post, we’re going to discuss the many benefits of adding a patio or decking to your landscape, which can create additional outdoor living space, improve your home’s functionality, and enhance your home improvement projects.

Increased Outdoor Living Space

By adding a patio or deck to your landscape, you’re essentially adding an extra room to your home, which provides additional outdoor living space.

This outdoor living space can be used for anything from hosting barbecues and outdoor parties to relaxing with a book on a sunny day. It’s a versatile space that can be customised to fit your specific needs and ideas for landscaping.

Improved Curb Appeal

A well-designed patio or deck can enhance the overall look of your home, adding to the value of your home improvement project.

It can add visual interest and make your property stand out. Plus, it can create a welcoming atmosphere that will make your guests feel right at home.

Better Functionality

A patio or deck can provide storage space for things like lawnmowers, gardening tools, and outdoor furniture.

It can also be designed to include features like built-in seating, lighting, and even outdoor kitchens, which increase the functionality of your outdoor living space.

6 Flowers to add to your Vegetable Beds

6 Flowers to add to your Vegetable Beds

The benefits of adding flowers to your vegetable beds are numerous.

They can help attract pollinators, deter pests, and give your food a beautiful pop of colour. Here are six flowers that will work well in this setting:

Calendula

Calendula is a member of the daisy family, and it’s another great plant for attracting pollinators to your garden.

Calendulas can also be used as a ground cover or in containers, making them an easy addition to any space. Plus, they’re easy to care for!

Calendula Scaled

Lavender

Lavender is a perennial that requires very little attention. It will grow in the sun or shade, and once established, it will do well with only occasional watering.

Lavender also attracts bees and other pollinators to your garden, which benefits the production of fruits and vegetables.

You can use lavender as an edible herb by harvesting the leaves just before they bloom to make teas or infusions, or you can use them fresh in salads or sautés.

Lavender Scaled

Zinnia

Zinnias are an excellent choice for your vegetable beds. These flowers thrive in both cool and warm climates and have been used as pollinator plants for years.

They also make great companion plants to other crops that require pollinators, like cucumbers and tomatoes.

Cosmos

Cosmos is a great flower to add to your vegetable bed. These easy-to-grow annuals attract pollinators,, making them a good choice for most gardeners.

Cosmos are long-blooming and drought-tolerant, making them perfect flowers for late summer planting when many other plants have slowed down or stopped blooming altogether.

Cosmos Scaled

Nasturtium

This beautiful flower’s edible leaves and flowers are an excellent addition to salads, garnishes and even sauces.

Nasturtiums are easy to grow from seed, can withstand some shade and the seeds can be stored for up to three years!

Not only do they look pretty, but they also help keep pests away.

Nasturtium Scaled

Marigold

Marigolds are a great addition to your vegetable garden. Not only do they provide a beautiful splash of colour and attract pollinators, but they also act as a natural pest repellent.

To take advantage of this useful plant, you should consider planting marigolds around the base of your fruit trees to keep pests such as mites and aphids away from them.

Additionally, if used in conjunction with other plants like peppers or potatoes, marigold petals can help prevent fungi from forming on those vegetables.

In fact, many people have found that adding marigold seeds directly into the soil just before planting their tomatoes has helped prevent blossom end rot, a common issue for tomato growers where fruits degrade at the blossom end due to lack of calcium or moisture deficiencies within the fruit itself, to allow for larger yields without any loss!

Marigold Scaled

Adding flowers to your vegetable bed can attract pollinators and help fend off pests. Flowers also improve soil quality, add visual interest, and can be used to create a scent.

These are the perfect options if you’re looking to add some flowers to your vegetable garden. They are all easy to grow and will look beautiful while helping out your garden too!

What are you going to be putting into your new vegetable beds? Also, which flowers are you going to add this year?

Preparing your garden for Spring

Preparing your garden for Spring

Gardening is a fun hobby, and the right preparation can make it even more enjoyable.

In this post, we’ll show you how to get your garden ready for spring.

Buy seeds

When you’re shopping for seeds, look for ones which you’re interested in. Are you interested in growing your own fruit, vegetables or herbs? Or are you looking for bright flowers to grow and plant in your garden?

There are so many options out there for you to enjoy. It’s even a great way to teach your children about the lifecycle of plants.

You can pick seeds up from garden nurseries, in supermarkets or almost anywhere.

Create your planting calendar

The planting calendar is the most important tool you’ll use to create a productive garden during the year.

You can make one yourself, but there are plenty of free apps and websites that will do it for you.

Our advice is to start with a blank piece of paper and plan out your garden for the entire year. Think about what kinds of plants grow in your area and with your soil type.

Clean out your greenhouse

  • Remove any dead plants and weeds – This is an important step because if you don’t get rid of these items, they can harbour pests, diseases and other problems that could spread to your new plants.
  • Clean out any pots or trays that are no longer needed – If it has been a while since the last time you used them, wash them out with soap and water before discarding them so that they aren’t full of extra dirt or leaves when they enter the trash bin.
  • Clean out any debris from the floor of your greenhouse – You want it so that there is more room for new plants to grow.

Get ready to grow seeds

There are a few things to consider before you can start planting seeds.

You’ll need to have trays that are ready and waiting for your seedlings and make sure they are in an area with good light.

Tidy up the garden

It’s time to tidy up your garden and get it ready for the growing season.

Tasks include removing weeds and dead plants, preparing your soil for planting and making sure the garden is tidy.

Clean your paths

Another great way to make your garden look its best is by cleaning the paths and steps. If there is any dirt on the path, then you should simply use a jet wash machine to clean it off.

If you want to ensure that the surface of your patio never looks dirty again, then we offer a service that will maintain and seal existing patios for you.

This means that our clients who have already paid for this service are in luck as they won’t need to do anything further!

Take care of maintenance such as fences, gates, and sheds
You’ll want to make sure fences are repaired or replaced if they’re damaged, and check all gates for working parts.

It’s important that these areas are functional so that you can keep the animals in their proper areas and keep them from getting out.

Take care of the soil by adding compost and organic matter
Compost is a great way to add organic matter to your soil.

Composting is also a good way to get rid of waste, such as old leaves and other garden debris.

Organic compost provides nutrients that plants need to grow, so they will be stronger and healthier when planted in the springtime.

You can make your own compost at home by collecting garden waste like dead leaves, grass clippings, wood ash from burning firewood and straw (not hay).

You’ll want a large container with holes in it for aeration so that oxygen can reach all parts of what you are using as material for making compost; otherwise, it may turn anaerobic which means there won’t be any air available for beneficial bacteria growth necessary during decomposition process thus resulting in a poor quality product which eventually could lead failure when trying later use this material after “cooking” period passes over few months time frame

You can have a healthy and successful garden this season!
This season, it’s important to be prepared. If you’re not sure what you’re doing, or if you haven’t taken the time to plan ahead and make sure that everything is in place before starting your garden, then it’s going to be difficult for you to achieve the results that you want.

Here are some things that can help:

  • Make sure that the seeds you choose are appropriate for the season. You don’t want to plant tomatoes on an early spring day when there’s still snow on the ground! Make sure that all of your plants can thrive in their current environment before purchasing them or taking action with them.
  • Invest in good gardening tools like shovels and hoes so they can properly handle heavy work (like digging up hard dirt) without breaking down over time (like cheap shovels tend).

We hope you found this article helpful.

Making your Virtual Reality Dream Garden a Reality

Making your Virtual Reality Dream Garden a Reality

If you’re looking to explore your garden design before having it installed, you’ve come to the right place.

Introduction

We offer a virtual reality design experience that will allow you to see your garden in action before it’s even built. You’ll be able to walk around, get a life-size perspective, and go into the installation phase happy and confident about the end result.

VR Garden Designs uses the very latest technology to help you create a beautiful outdoor space that suits your needs and preferences. You’ll be able to walk through your garden from every angle, making sure everything looks exactly as you imagined it would before anything is built.

Bring your garden to life before you start

When you come to us, we want to make sure that your vision for your garden is clear. We’ll meet with you and discuss what you’d like to do with your space. Then, we’ll talk about how much time and money you want to spend on the project, and what kind of results that work will deliver.

Once we’ve established these goals, our team will create a design for the garden that meets all of them. After that happens, our designers will use their years of experience in landscaping and horticulture to build a plan using our state-of-the-art 3D software (which allows us to show clients exactly how their dream gardens will look).

This process helps ensure that all aspects of their new landscape are perfect at every stage along the way, from conception through completion, not only making it easier on both parties involved but also reducing any potential miscommunications between them since they now have a solid visual representation as well!

Make the most of your garden space

Your garden space is an important resource, and you’ll want to make the most of it. Having a clear picture of what your garden will look like at its best will help you make decisions about where to plant, how much space each item requires, and how many resources are required for maintenance.

Enjoy a Sunday morning coffee in your new garden

Can you see yourself enjoying a relaxing Sunday morning coffee in your new garden? If so, that is going to be the perfect garden for you; and we were able to show you that reality using our latest technology.

Conclusion

We’re excited to see how the future of virtual reality will change the way we design our gardens.

We think there are some great benefits to using VR as part of your overall garden planning process, and we hope this article has helped you better understand what those might be!

5 Ways to elevate your garden for 2023!

5 Ways to…

Gardeners are the most patient people on earth. We know that if you plant something in the ground, it might not be ready to harvest for months or even years.

Change the layout of your garden to create new places to explore and develop

Your garden can serve as a place for you to relax and unwind, but it’s not always easy to do that when there’s so much going on around you. If the kids are running wild or playing with noisy toys, it can make it difficult to sit back and enjoy your surroundings. That’s why it’s important that you change the layout of your garden in 2023! By creating new areas where children can play while keeping noise away from other areas where adults can relax, change will enhance everyone’s experience with nature by allowing them to fully appreciate all its offerings.

Installing a garden pod or shed

If you’re looking to add some more space to your garden this year, consider installing a garden pod or shed.

When choosing the right space for you and your family, it’s important to think about what will be needed in the future.

For example, if you have children they might need somewhere private and safe to play while still being able to supervise from inside the house. Or is it for you to take up a new or existing hobby and you’re looking for a space away from your home?

Add a new patio and seating area ready to entertain

Almost everyone loves to spend time outdoors, and having a patio in your garden is a great way to enjoy nature while entertaining friends.

A fire pit is a great addition because you can use it year round! In Autumn and Winter, you can sit around the fire pit roasting marshmallows on sticks; in Springtime, throw down some blankets with snacks and drinks, and in Summer it’s perfect for those cooling evenings after a day of pottering in the garden.

Add flowerbeds for new planting possibilities

Adding flowerbeds to your garden is always a good idea! If you decide to add flowerbeds, there are two types: raised beds and sunken beds. Raised beds are great to add dimension to your garden, as well as easier to plant in if you struggle to bend down to a sunken bed. Save on lawn maintenance with artificial grass

You can enjoy the look of your garden without having to worry about mowing, watering or trimming. The best artificial grass looks just like real grass and comes in a variety of colours, textures and lengths to suit any garden design.

With these five tips in mind, you can create a garden that is both beautiful and functional. The key is to use your imagination and create something unique for yourself!

Here at Lincs Landscaping, we can help you with all these methods and more to get your garden looking perfect for 2023!  With over 7 years of experience, we are religiously devoted to jobs of various sizes and budgets.
